It’s hard to believe but it has already been 7 months since we drove from Royal Palm Beach, Florida to Bend, Oregon, and in less than 24 hours we’ll be doing it again (and then a few weeks later one more time!).
Some people think we’re crazy, and some people think we’re lucky, but before we get into any of that let’s take a quick look at our first road trip across the U.S. back in March 2015.
The exact path we followed…
A few quick stats…
A few of my favorite pictures…
Are we crazy or lucky?
Some people read the stats above and may have immediately thought the following.
They’re crazy because they:
- drove for 77 hours
- traveled 16 days in a car with two dogs
- spent thousands of dollars
Or,
- visited 6 national parks
- witnessed 1 of the natural wonders of the world and 1 of the modern wonders of the world“
- took a trip of a lifetime
It may seem odd, but what if I told you we were lucky to spend 16 days crammed into a car with our 2 dogs, and it was crazy to stand on the edge of the grand canyon or bike across the golden gate bridge?
The hidden truth is that we’re both crazy and lucky. I think John Steinbeck may have said it best…
“People don’t take trips, trips take people.” – John Steinbeck
With all that said, we are getting ready to do it again.
My sister’s wedding is coming up in mid November, and instead of boarding the dogs and flying down to Florida, we’re packing up the car and driving across the Northern and Eastern U.S.
Why?
Because these are the types of things worth experiencing.
Here’s are plan for this trip…
We’re planning to see:
- Shoshone Falls
- Grand Teton National Park
- Wild Mustangs near Cody, Wyoming
- Mount Rushmore
- Badlands National Park
- Sioux Falls Park
- The City of Chicago
- Notre Dame
- Quicken Loans Arena (Cleveland Cavs vs. Miami Heat!)
- Niagara Falls
- Fenway Park
- Plymouth Rock
- Newport, Rhode Island
- New Haven, Connecticut
- Hershey’s Chocolate World
- Washington D.C.
- Drive the Blue Ridge Parkway
- Several State Parks in the Panhandle
- And Finally Home to Bradenton
If this looks exciting to you then be sure to check back every couple days, as I’ll be doing my best to post updates along the way so be sure to follow me on Facebook or Instagram for even more.
Time to go finish packing!
